{life update} + Fall excitement

Happy Saturday everyone! I am trying to savor these (what I assume) are the last warmish days of Fall. I love the beginning of the cool temps and Nebraska is absolutely gorgeous right now! Yesterday I took a little bike ride around our neighborhood and the trees are perfect.  Fall really is the best time of year.

On that note, this Fall has been just a little bit different for us! Basically, the real reason my posts have been so few and far between is because…

We're having a baby!

We could not be more excited!

And neither could Brick! :)

The last few months have been quite the ride!
We found out that I was pregnant in early August. The first few weeks were so exciting and I was absolutely dying to get to my first doctors appointment. Soon after that (around 8 weeks) I started to get extremely sick. The thought of looking at my computer screen or even scrolling on my phone would make me nauseous. Basically, everything made me nauseous.

I was surviving on Sprite and crackers and really just trying to get through my day! And the tiredness… what?! I knew pregnancy would cause me to be fatigued but I had NO IDEA! I couldn't hardly get to the end of my workday without a nap.

The good news is….well, a few things. The good news is Diclegis exists. The second good news is that I am now 16 weeks and seem to be getting a little more energy back :) .

For those of you who have taken Diclegis… it truly is a miracle medicine! Absolutely nothing as far as the typical natural remedies would work to control my nausea. My entire day was spent in a constant state of dizziness or dry heaving. And let me tell ya… it's nearly impossible to get anything done when you feel that way!

We are ecstatic to welcome our little chubby {I'm only assuming} baby into the world this Spring. I am due April 22nd (one day after my birthday!)

In a few short weeks we can find out the gender… and we will! We are dying to know if it's a BOY or GIRL!

Thank you to everyone who has emailed and/or still checked into the blog during my extremely absentee period. Hoping, as we continue into the second trimester, I can gather more energy for posts.

Mostly, we are so thankful and excited that we get to be parents. YAY!

The Motherboard

I believe this has been my longest blog hiatus, ever. About two months ago, my computer decided to pull the ultimate prank and refuse to turn back on. It started doing this frightening beeping sound when I tried to charge it.   Though I know nothing about computer repair, something told me this was not good.  I hesitated to google the symptoms. Everyone knows how that goes… one minute you have a sore throat, and the next you are dying of a rare disease. Same for computers. So… I did it anyways because I like to get the facts up front. It didn’t sound good, and I was scared.

Like any normal person would do, I went into denial and put my computer in the closet, hoping it would rest up and turn on in a few days.  Well, fast forward a few weeks, and my computer wasn’t making the healthy recovery I had hoped for. I caved and took her in. A week went by before I got the official diagnosis… the motherboard. I am sure my blank stare encouraged the computer repairman to dumb down his spiel and say “We need to send it away to get repaired or replace it. It’s shot.” Wait, what?! I have only had this MacBook for about 3 years. Don’t these things have like, lifetime warranties? Aren’t they indestructible? Am I making these things up?  I saved my temper tantrum and instead told him to do what he needs to do… what do I know anyways?

Well gang, my computer is finally healthy. Coincidentally, I still haven’t picked her up. Blogging from my phone is tricky, but I like the challenge. And I didn’t want to leave anyone hanging any longer. That is, of course, making the assumption that anyone is “hanging.”

Anywho, it is Fall! Over at my apartment, I am bathing in pumpkin scented everything. Literally. Have you guys tried Pumpkin Latte and Marshmallow from Bath and Body Works? I was like a kid in a candy shop when I saw the fall scents were out. I smell like pumpkins, my apartment smells like pumpkins, I am ingesting pumpkin flavored goodies…. It’s chaos around here. If you go and buy anything pumpkin scented (to wear) this Fall, I would make it THIS. Yum.

So, I am going to keep this short and sweet because typing for an extended period of time on my IPhone screen makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon.

XOXO

Tuesday Favorites

Does everyone just have a thing they "favor" at any given moment? I definitely go in stages. Of all different things. Food, products, clothing, jewelry, people (kidding! kind of)... anyways.. so here is my completely random and irrelevant current favorites list.

1. Essie "Watermelon"
As summer is winding down (sad) I am clawing at the chance to wear summer colors. I know that Fall is right around the corner, and soon, very soon, I may look ridiculous with my various shades of hot pink everywhere. I bought this color the other day in an attempt to change up my summer colors, and could NOT STOP obsessing over it! Seriously. Such a fun color!

2. Benefit the "POREfessional"
As I was in search of a new primer, the sweet girl at Sephora recommended using this product. I don't know exactly how well it works as a primer (though I have been using it as one!), but as a product it is fantastic! As always, Benefit's packaging just gets me. Why! WHY! So cute. I can't pass it up. But aside from that, this stuff is legit. Pores be gone!

3. Steamed broccoli
Do I really need a picture? I think you get the idea. My grandma tends to give us random gifts, and last Christmas she was handing out these steamer bowl things that you can steam rice and veggies in the microwave with. I had never really used mine, and then I decided to a few weeks ago. And now I can't stop. Steamed broccoli is the side to every meal I eat now, basically (or Oreos). Everyone should get one of these bowls. It makes it SO EASY. I pour a little olive oil and a tiny bit of salt and.... YUM!

4. Boots
OOPS. Too soon? I can't help it. Every August, I get the "Fall itch." For me, this typically (naturally) reflects in the form of shoes. I LOVE BOOT SEASON! I CAN'T WAIT! THAT'S WHY I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS! AHHHH. Okay. Time to settle down. I have already been guilty of trying on my boots with various "Fall" outfits in my closet. Meanwhile, its 105 degrees outside and if I were to actually consider said outfit, I would die of a heat stroke in short order. That's okay though. As we Nebraskan's know, that could change. REAL quick! I LOVE a tall boot.. but seriously.. these are so cute. These are from the Fall line at beYourself in Lincoln. Yes please!

Thanks for tuning in to my Tuesday Favorites!

I will be doing an update, SOON, on my LiLash progress.

Love,
