only one | Q & A

It's almost the end of the week… and I'm ready for a staycation! We have tons going on this weekend and I have a long weekend in the works that I am thrilled about. On top of that, we have family coming to town and I could not be more excited!

That being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed fellow bloggers doing a little q & a lately, and I thought it would be fun to mix things up and share a little more about me! 

This quiz is The Only One quiz… if you could choose only one….

to wear one outfit | A cute top, soft skinny jeans and a pair of neutral wedges! 

have one style icon | Um.. is it bad that I don't have a style icon? Possibly that speaks for my lack of style. 

shop at one store | Well, that would be incredibly hard. But I can think of one store that seems to carry nearly every brand and product I like… Nordstroms! 

carry one bag | Oh lordy, I have talked before about how I don't care about bags. I guess I would just pick a neutral one that goes with everything and roll with it!

use one skincare product | Um… that's crazy talk. You can't use just one skin care product. I will not answer that question. I WILL say that I would insist on using my TAO wash and toner, Paula's Skin Perfecting Liquid, and a vitamin C cream. Among other things. (Can you tell I don't do the one thing well when it comes to products?!) 

wear one scent | Tough, again, but I would go with Viva La Juicy. 

indulge in one spa treatment | It would have to be a deep tissue massage. 

apply one lipstick color | Oh, again, this is hard. What if you aren't feeling that color that day? :) I would have to pick a favorite neutral… MAC "Modest"

order one drink | Whiskey & diet 

pick one flower | I love carnations. 

apply one mascara | Loreal Carbon Black 

do one workout | Easy! Jazzercise. I will always prefer to dance my body into shape! {read more about my love for Jazzercise here!}

read one author | sorry, this is impossible. Plus, wouldn't that take the joy out of reading?!

live by one quote | I don't know if bible verses count as quotes, but this is absolutely a verse to live by! "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

1. I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. It's a real problem.
2. I LOVE Jazzercise. Definitely my fitness choice.
3. I have a latex food allergy (you can read more about that here)
4. I have never dyed or highlighted my hair. For some reason people really doubt me on this one!
5. My husband and I met online. You can read more about that here and here if you want :)
6. I used to be a Surgical Technologist.
7. Much to my disdain, many of my family members call me Bean. As in Gina Bean.
8. I love country music.
9. My least favorite chore is taking the trash out.
10. I have always lived in Nebraska!
11. My actual name is Regina. Yes, just like Mean Girls.

Why did you decide to write your blog?

Writing has always been an important part of my life.  I realized that in everyday life, I loved sharing with friends about new products I was trying, things I was reading, recipes I was trying, and just random everyday things! That was when I realized that I could (and should!) share these things in a blog format and it has been SO FUN! And now I get to write AND "meet" a lot of cool people :)

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
This is a hard one for me! Since it's anywhere in the WORLD I think I would like to do a little European tour. So many places that look so beautiful... I would especially love to see Germany and Italy.

What’s your favorite thing to do to relax?
Bake or binge watch a show.

What is your favorite blog post you have written?
I love my posts that people can relate to! Probably some of my pieces on Her View From Home.

How did you choose the name of your blog?
I can't remember how I arrived exactly at Sweet and Modern, but I remember it had to do with Sweet reminding me of baking and fun products, and Modern reminding me of lifestyle happenings.

What advice would you give another new blogger?
It's totally normal to have days that you don't feel like blogging or have non motivation to do so! I always remind myself that this is a FUN creative outlet for me. Anything that makes it anything else is something I don't need!

What do you envision for your blog one year from now?
Hopefully meeting and connecting with more bloggers as well as more readers. And new product and recipe finds :)

What’s your favorite movie?
I can't really pinpoint a favorite, but I always say The Wedding Singer because I have probably watched it more than any other movie.

Cat or Dog?
Dog, hands down.

What’s the mostly delicious food you’ve ever eaten?
Oh my! This is so hard. I know I am missing things but for some reason what popped into my  head was a meal my husband and I shared in Colorado Springs, CO at Garden of the Gods. I have no idea why, but we both still talk about how amazing it was.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Watching stupid reality TV shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette. And way too much dessert.

Boyfriend Q & A

When I saw a boyfriend Q & A on another blog I follow, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to interview my favorite person in the world! I recycled some of the questions from her Q & A and tossed in a few of my own… so gear up for your Q & A with Clay!

And here he is. I might get in trouble for posting this picture… see his unimpressed look? That's how he feels about forced photo shoots. But I think he's dreamy. 

1.  What is the name of my blog?

C: "Something about sweet and pretty. Sweet and …. something."

2. What is a popular fashion item for women right now?

C: "Scarves."

3. What do you know about Pinterest?

C: "Ummm…it's a lot of craft stuff. I don't know. It seems like there is so much going on. Arts and crafts, interests, ideas, fun stuff for the house…" 

4. Do you know what I typically blog about?

C: "You write about makeup. And movies and books. Sometimes you talk about holidays. And you tried to hook your cousin up."

5. What is my favorite product?

C: "Bare Escentuals. Minerals."

6. What is an acceptable amount of money to spend on shoes?

C: "Hmm, I have no idea. Depends how much money you have. For women, maybe $500 a year?"

* I would like to insert a side note here… I certainly do NOT spend $500 a year on shoes. But I would like to add that Clay got me my most favorite pair of shoes I have ever owned for my birthday! See below!

7. What do we like to do together?

C: "Everything."

8. What do women keep in their purse?

C: "So. Much. Stuff. Keys, makeup, wallet. Wait, is a purse also a clutch? Emergency stuff. Treats. Napkins." 

9. What is a Clarisonic? 

C: "Is that what women use to trim their mustaches? Wait.. is this something you would keep in a purse?"

10. Anything else you would like to share with the readers? 

C: "Gina is a megababe… and has great tips."

Yes, I typed these exactly how he answered. And every single one makes me laugh a little. He's such a good sport. Now all of my readers know how lucky I am… every single day!
