Detox

It finally happened.

I bought the Drybar Detox dry shampoo.

And it was EVERYTHING I hoped it would be. You guys, Drybar rocks. Their products are amazing. The smell is unbeatable. I am stretching my washes further than I ever have.

I should probably consider changing the name of this blog to "We mostly talk about dry shampoo." That would be a little lengthy... and not entirely true... but I realize my obsession with finding the perfect one has gotten out of control in the past year.

But now... I can't honestly say that I think we've landed. For me anyways. I know smell is a personal thing and what I may see as amazing...someone else may see as mediocre. So there's that. But speaking for quality, this product is NOT lacking.

Here is the breakdown:

Pros
Extreme volume
Absorbs oil
Smells amazing
Smell lasts throughout day/night

Cons
$20-23 depending on where  you purchase
...that's it.

I have mentioned before that I feel like $20 and up seems to be a lot to spend on a product that you are using practically every day (and that may only last about a month), but I have to retract that statement for THIS product. It is worth every penny of not having to wash, blow dry and style my hair everyday. And THE SMELL. Yes please.

I have no idea why I waited so long. Don't make the same mistake I do.... get out there and buy this miracle spray, stat!

Friday Favorites: Hair Edition

Happy Friday Ladies!

I will be the first to admit.... SO relieved it is the weekend! Even though I had a short week, I am ready for some quality time spent at home.

Today I am linking with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share our Friday Favorites.

While in Jamaica, I left most of my go-to hair  products at home... and yikes! It was a great reminder why I use these products/tools, and how much they benefit my hair. Many of these products I have mentioned before, but I am rounding up a few of my "most used" today for Friday Favorites!

Infrashine 1 Inch Spring Grip Curling Iron
Okay, I know Hot Tools are all the rave (I have one as well!) but I bought this curling iron a few years ago, simply because it was marked WAY down, and I have to say.... I can curl my hair and reap the benefits for 2-3 days with this baby! Not so much with my Hot Tools... that is just my experience!

DermOrganic Leave in Treatment
My friend Allison used this delicious oil in my hair a few times and I knew I had to have it! It smells so good! And it makes my hair so soft! As with all oil products, I DO NOT use this any higher than ear-level on my hair.

TIGI Bed Head Urban Antidotes Resurrection Shampoo & Conditioner
I stand by this set! I rotate in and out a few other shampoos that I love (Redken, Biolage, etc) but this product continually makes my thick and wavy hair much more soft and manageable. And the smell... one of my favorites.

drybar Southern Belle Volumizing Mousse
I have blogged about this stuff before but I will say it again! I typically do not use mousse as I am not interested in the crunchy 1999 curls it brings about. But this is NOT like that... I rub it into my roots before blow drying and rarely even have to do any teasing after! Totally worth the money. And the smell... to die for.

Batiste dry shampoo
I have tried most of their scents and the bottom line is.... doesn't matter! This product is the best dry shampoo (and I have tried A LOT! Read more about that here ) and I continue to buy it. Best as in best working, best priced, best smell.

If you are looking for an update in any of these departments, I strongly suggest these products!

Dry Bar - Chicago Edition

I love these salons. They are cute, fun and they make your hair feel SO GOOD. This last summer, I had my first blow bar experience  in Denver. It was a fun experience and helped me to know a little about what I wanted/what to expect for time #2.

Fast forward about 9 months and I am in Chicago for the weekend! My sweet friend Emily knew about my obsession with the blow bar and immediately informed me when she discovered the Drybar going up (within walking distance!) of her apartment in Chicago.

Drybar is a very well known blow bar location. They have salons throughout various states such as California, New York, Texas, Arizona (&more)  and.. now Chicago.

Emily is a fantastic host, in more than one way, but she was on top of reservations and let me know that ours was set in stone for Saturday morning! What a GREAT way to begin the day's festivities.

These are a few pictures I snapped of the Drybar in Chicago... such a cute place!

When we got there, we had our option between coffee and mimosas..also a pretty great way to start the morning out!

Here is Emily and I... pre blow out (and makeup). We were pretty excited :)
So, one thing I didn't know is that Drybar has their own line of products that they use specifically. These products smell SO good. Indescribably good.

and here I am getting the "Southern Belle" treatment. In the "look book" this was described as curls and lots of volume.

For those of you wanting to try out a drybar/blow bar...here are my tips that I have acquired so far!

If you know you want a specific look..be VERY specific. At the blow bar in Denver, I said I wanted a lot of volume, but didn't get it. So, this time, I exaggerated to the woman how much I wanted. And..even when she was finishing up.. I told her I actually wanted more. They really want your hair to look how you want it..so be specific!

I would have liked a little more curl, however I blame that on myself, as I told her I wanted a "loose curl" and that means different things to different people. That, and I am pretty sure she used a keratin treatment in my hair, which completely kills my hair's ability to hold a curl.

Emily was very specific with her stylist about the type of curls she wanted, and also that she DIDN'T want the big hair that I was going after.
The key is to let them know... if you don't have a preference...then sit back and enjoy!

This was such a relaxing and fun thing to do. While only my second experience, it was the best by far! My hair smelled and felt amazing afterwards.

Emily and I... post blowout! Emily's hair looked absolutely gorgeous!

And.. as mentioned.. I fell in love with the mousse she used in my hair.
Mainly because of the smell.. just incredible! Of course, I forgot to buy a bottle before I left, so now it is en route to my home! (You can order all Drybar products through Sephora online!)

If you are looking for a fun way to treat yourself... this is it! Unfortunately for my local readers.. we don't have any Drybar locations in Nebraska. However, Omaha recently opened a blow bar called Lark! I have yet to go, but it's on the list! Yay!

Love,
